Snee Farm.  Located in the heart of Mt. Pleasant, SC on the beautiful, 200 year-old Snee Farm Plantation. Driving through the Snee Farm entrance from Hwy 17,  you will soon notice the well established neighborhood with it’s mature trees, location and large lot sizes………it is obvious why it is a very desirable place to live. Residents enjoy its quick access to the Snee Farm country club, beach, county parks, shopping, downtown Charleston and the easy access to 526. Home owners, renters and visitors can enjoy the over 900 single-family home neighborhood taking in the nicely shaded roads and tranquil lakes. It also boasts a highly regarded country club which has a George Cobb designed championship golf course, a newly renovated clubhouse, a full service restaurant and bar, a fitness room, 18 tennis courts and two newly renovated swimming pools. (My friends that live there like the “adult only pool”!  Members can also take advantage of  a variety of social events too including dances, cookouts, holiday parties, trivia nights, live music, kids club and more!

It also is a historic area that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a National Historic Landmark in 1973. This plantation has a rich and diverse history spanning three centuries. The original property was a 500-acre land grant given to Richard Butler in 1696. Long Point Road was established along the northern boundary of Butler’s property around 1707. Through the years it was again sold  to Col. Charles Pinckney on Sept. 17, 1754. Col. Pinckney was the father of one of America’s Founding Fathers Charles Pinckney.

Right now the neighborhood is bursting with springtime trees and flowers. Definitely worth a ride if you have never been to one of the older but great neighborhoods in Mount Pleasant, SC!
