Happy November Y’all!
The seasons are changing in the Lowcountry and while we’re lucky enough to live in beautiful and (mostly) warm Charleston, there are always measures that can be necessary to take when heading into a different season.
While the likelihood of experiencing snow is extremely rare for Charleston, it has happened before and will very likely happen again! If you’re from places prone to snow you may be used to toughing it out, but it should be known that because Charleston is not used to snow, the city is not equipped to handle snowy conditions. Without plows and sand for the roads, driving can turn very dangerous very quickly. In this case, we recommend stocking up food and essentials in the event you need to stay inside if this season’s Winter has snow.
Due to the lack of preparation that Charleston has, it’s not a bad idea to create your own preparation kit with items such as:
- A shovel
- Rock salt
- A snow brush/ice scraper for your car
- A battery-powered radio in the event of a power outage
- Flashlights
- Candles and matches
- Extra batteries
- Blankets, hats, gloves to keep you warm
