It’s no secret that Charleston is a popular vacation destination and with about 33 new residents every day, it’s becoming an ever more popular area for permanent living. Whether you’ve never been to Charleston before or have visited a million times, we think that April is the PERFECT time to visit Charleston for any reason! If you are visiting for some fun, meeting with friends, celebrating an occasion, or looking to put your roots down for good, April in Charleston just feels so special for a variety of reasons!   

The PERFECT Weather

Summers in the Lowcountry can get incredibly humid, making it uncomfortable to be outdoors for long periods of time. Contrastingly, while winters are mild in South Carolina, they’re certainly not ideal to be outside for long periods of time and you’d likely get shivery. April is the perfect time of the year when things are warm but not suffocatingly hot. Flowers are in bloom, the sun is shining, and everything feels a-okay! Daily temperatures typically range from 71°F to 77°F, rarely falling below 61°F or exceeding 84°F, talk about perfection!   

Timing

So long as you are not coming around the time of an Easter weekend, April tends to be a bit less busy than other months in the tourist season of Charleston. Many families with kids do not take a vacation in April, preferring to wait until the end of the school year and warmer months to take time off, making more room for those looking to visit in April! Less tourism at this time allows you to have more freedom to explore and trust us, there is a ton to explore in Charleston, South Carolina!

Savor the tastes of authentic Cajun and Creole fare - jambalaya, alligator, etouffe, andouille sausage, and crawfish. Also, enjoy Lowcountry favorites like seafood and Southern barbecue. For those who prefer a tamer menu, we’ll serve up ample portions of festival foods like hot dogs, snow cones, and more.   Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival When: April 24th, 2022 The Annual Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival presented by East Cooper Medical Center and Harris Teeter is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year!
